Community MarketplaceSimply RISC - Embedded ProcessorsWith its main goal of developing and supporting microprocessors and IP cores for the embedded electronics industry, Simply RISC has created a new embedded processor code named S1, based on the OpenSPARC T1 processor. While the T1 is a 64-bit RISC processor designed for low-power servers, the S1 version will target embedded devices such as PDAs, set-top boxes and digital cameras. The S1 has one core capable of running 4 threads simultaneoulsy, and has more than one Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) available, chosen at boot time. "OpenSPARC is a great opportunity for emerging companies like Simply RISC" said Fabrizio Fazzino, Managing Director, Simply RISC. "We will be utilizing the OpenSPARC T1 designs to develop a single core version for the embedded device market, which we would not have had access to previously. This levels the playing field for us immensely and we are really looking forward to participating in the OpenSPARC community." Reviews (0)
