Abstract: Aggressive CMT offers benefits that greatly exceed performance and throughput alone. There are significant savings in space, power, cost as well as dramtic increases in reliability. The talk will address the current and near term Systems based on Niagara technology and all those side effect benefits they offer in addition to their superior throughput performance.
Bio: Rick Hetherington is Distinguished Engineer and Chief Architect of Niagara processors and systems. Rick is responsible for the Horizontal Systems roadmap. He manages a team of processor, system, performanace and networking architects for all the server products based on Niagara CMT architecture. Rick has been with SUN off and on since 1996 when he joined to co-architect the Millennium processor. Prior to joining SUN, Rick was at DEC for nearly 16 years and worked on a variety of VAX and Alpha products. Rick has nearly 30 years of industry experience and over 40 patents.
