David Weaver has been involved with SPARC for over 20 years. He originally hired on at Sun to lead the SPARC software effort (compilers, OS port, etc) and became active on Sun's SPARC Architecture Committee. He served as Sun's technical liaison to AT&T duing the "great Berkeley/AT&T Unix merge" and later as Sun's program manager for a 5-year joint project with Fujitsu.
At Sun, he also developed cross-compiler products (supporting SPARC, 680x0, and mainframe hosts and targets) and a remote debugger for embedded SPARC targets. Dave has been responsible for the MAJC processor architecture specicfication and every published SPARC Architecture specfication, including SPARC V8, SPARC V9, UltraSPARC Architecture 2005, and future revisions to the UltraSPARC Architecture. He's charged with overseeing consistency and binary compatibility of Sun's SPARC implementations, across implementations and over time. He has served as chair of SPARC International's Architecture Committee.
Dave holds a patent for an innovation in processor architecture.
Outside of Sun, Dave is an avid photographer, instrument-rated private pilot, and father of two. |
