Aman Joshi has been involved with Niagara project the very day he joined Sun, in 2002, to help integrate the Afara team. His involvement has been from the EDA/CAD tools side. For him it has been a wonderful team to work with since everyone is so focused on quality & delivering results - like a "start up" within the company.
Aman started his career at Intel, and was involved with the first Pentium processor. He later teamed up on RISC processors (MIPS & PowerPC) and continued on to manage & direct high-end graphics processors (Nvidia/3dfx), media processors (Pixel Works/Equator) and high throughput networking processors (Cisco/Procket Networks).
In his "spare time" he (and his family "team") farm grapes and make wine, a process requiring as much patience (or more?), as developing semiconductor chips!
He see the OpenSPARC project as a critical turning point for the industry. He expects it to break barriers in hardware design and create a transparent environment for some of the most innovative work. As the point person for our initial beta program, he has been able to get a peek at some of the ideas that are already cooking. Collaboration around these great minds will be exciting! |
