Software and server maker Sun Microsystems Inc. said Tuesday it created a microelectronics group that would be headed by company executive vice president David Yen.
The
group will manage network, cryptography and high-performance computing
developments and act as a supplier for the company's systems
businesses. It will also do business with original equipment
manufacturers worldwide.

Yen last worked as head of Sun's storage
business. Sun senior vice president Jon Benson will take over Yen's old
post, and both will work under Sun President and Chief Executive

Sun shares lost 16 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $6.06 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market (nasdaq: NDAQ - news - people ).
