Nanotechnology can potentially deliver a wide variety of benefits to society, ranging from the design of minute doses of breakthrough drugs, real-time clinical diagnostics to self-assembling bio-structures.

» [EDUCATION] Sun Rays Help Reduce Heat and Noise in Classrooms
The Little Heath School in Reading, England, has opted for Sun Ray Ultra-Thin Clients to achieve a flexible, sustainable and efficient desktop environment for its 1,626 students. Sun Rays produce no noise and minimal heat due to a power consumption of only 4 watts, compared to the 80 watts of an average PC. IT applications are delivered from centrally managed servers, which eliminates space, management time and costs associated with deploying thick-client desktop PCs.

» [EDUCATION] Sun Rays Provide Increased Access for Pupils
Grange Technology College, a specialist community school serving 1,800 students in the Bradford area, has selected Sun's services to increase the availability of ICT to students and staff. The school was able to increase the pupil-to-computer ratio and cut the cost of license upgrades and maintenance by moving to Sun Thin Clients.

» Sun and Mentor Graphics Collaborate to Provide Solaris 10-based EDA Solutions on x64 Platforms
The collaboration is expected to provide optimal solutions for engineering teams developing next-generation system-on-chip and printed circuit board designs, by the end of this calendar year.

» Accenture Announces First Products in Sun-Accenture Innovation Center
Last September, Sun and Accenture announced the creation of an Innovation Centre to leverage Accenture's world-class business process experience and Sun's identity management and SOA technologies. The programme has been well-received by customers and Accenture recently unveiled the first prototype of a product to be released under the initiative: a fully integrated Health Information System powered by Sun Identity Management technology -- roll-out is expected in 2007.

» Customers Speak Out: Sun #1 in Enterprise Tape Libraries
Sun has retained its #1 ranking in enterprise tape libraries for the second straight year, according to the 2006 Diogenes Labs-Storage Magazine Quality Awards for tape libraries. The Sun StorageTek tape libraries evaluated in the survey included the Sun StorageTek SL8500 Modular Library System and L700e/L1400 systems.
